Leading SA Business Tycoon Lebo Gunguluza launches The GEM Group

Mr Elliot Sack was invited and a distinguished at Lebo Gunguluza’s recent global launch The GEM Group. This is the Lebo Gunguluza’s holding company which is focusing on global innovations and a portfolio of entities l to be incubated and developed by the “self-made ” entrepreneur himself. You may know of Lebo Gunguluza for his very colourful position on South Africa Dragon’s Den reality tv show which looks to fund and mentor ambitious entrepreneurs and business professionals. He became executive chairman of Gunguluza Enterprises and Media group (GEM) in 2002, his newest venture. The GEM Group is the holding company to IT, hospitality, and media communications sectors integrated with hospitality, health and media interests.

The launch of The GEM Group was held at the Sandton Hilton and attended by media, influential business people, politicians and investors across various industries. This event was a special occasion for GEM and Mr Gunguluza, as they were announcing their plans to launch Africa’s first digital bank. It was a remarkable event to see such innovation in the fin-tech space originating from South Africa and was well received by the many relevant people in attendance. Mr Elliot Sack was also able to present at the event during the Gala Dinner and showcase his exciting business ventures in the med-tech and digital health space in South Africa.

Mr Gunguluza brought all of the young entrepreneurs on stage and explained to the crowd The GEM Group’s vision and strategy to grow and expand these SMEs in Africa and globally. Mr Elliot Sack was quoted in his presentation “An estimated 225 people died of heart disease a day according to Statistics SA, of that number 80% could have been prevented. This very alarming statistic is due to the fact that we have a mere 200 cardiologist to serve the population and the majority work in private practice. This shocking disparity is unsustainable hence eHealthGroup is working with both public and private sectors to improve this crisis in healthcare delivery”.
