All eyes on TeleRobot and gets a drive-by Mr Elliot Sack at the SA Heart Congress in Sandton, South Africa
Mr Elliot Sack, CEO and founder of eHealthGroup awed the crowd with the InTouch Health Vita at the South African Heart Congress at the Sandton Convention Centre. The SA Heart Congress was attended by top cardiologists, key opinion leaders and academics from around Africa and the world. Dr David Jankelow, President of SA Cardiology Society gave a very compelling presentation of healthcare innovation, digitization and disruption. Dr Jankelow explained in his presentation to the attentive crowd how South Africa faces a major deficit of cardiologist in the country, a mere 200 or less to serve the population. He then went on to explain that most of these specialists work and prefer to spend their efforts in the private sector, which leaves the public sector and majority of the population under serious threat from cardiac disease which is one of the leading causes of death.
During Dr Jankelow’s speech, out of nowhere from the back of the conference call, came driving a TeleRobotic device. The device grasped the crowd immediately as the face of a doctor from overseas appeared on the screen of this impressive piece of medical technology. Dr Jankelow then went on to explain to the audience about how telemedicine and this technology is being proactively used in health systems throughout the world to provide services like cardiology, neurology and critical care management of patients. Mr Elliot Sack and eHealthGroup had the TeleRobotic system roaming around the conference giving live demonstrations and showcasing the power of this technology and telemedicine for cardiology.
